Mother - The Mighty Superhuman
Although one might say that a mother, is just an ordinary woman constantly working, but for the past fifteen days I have developed a sense of gratitude towards my mother.
It all started when my grandmother had tested positive for COVID-19. No sooner did we hear the news than my mother rushed to her house for her aid. Now, for the next fortnight, my father, sister, grandparents and I were all alone. It was then, when we realized the importance of a mother. Although all her chores were segregated among the three of us, every night we smashed onto the beds as dead as a dodo. Handling my chores and studies together wasn't easy at all! I had only three things to do, still it were delayed. Last afternoon, I fed my dog four hours late!
My day starts at seven in the morning, there is no ready to be served breakfast so I have to either boil eggs or make an omelet. After my online school, I went downstairs, watered the plants and fed my dog. In the evening I did the laundry.
While our day starts at seven in the morning, my mother's day starts at five. To keep her body fit, she does Yoga everyday in the morning. She even conducts Yoga classes! Then she moves to the kitchen, she makes some breakfast and spicy ginger tea. Her work does not stop here, she's the one who does laundry, gives our dog food and even waters the plants regularly. It is ironic, she spends an hour cooking meals and we finish it of just in ten minutes without even bothering to clean up the mess. While the food is being cooked she dusts and cleans the house. Do we even appreciate her work? No, because her work not visible as she does not leave the house untidy even for a day! Even if her twenty minutes afternoon nap extends a bit, we start complaining on how much she sleeps! But do we know the amount of work she does? At eight, all of us quietly come and sit at the dinning table expecting the dinner to be ready and served. Do we help our mother to serve or cook the last meal of the day? No. Do we grumble on the food not being served? Yes we do! Has anyone ever seen a mother sitting and relaxing? The situation worsens when we go out to have all the yummy meals and the mothers effort goes in vain.
This is what you call a mighty superhuman. The one who has sacrificed life for the service of the family members. This women in every household is what you may call a superhero and must admire the most.

A picture memory brings to me;
I look across the years and see
Myself beside my mother’s knee.
I feel her gentle hand restrain
My selfish moods, and know again
A child’s blind sense of wrong and pain.
But wiser now, a man gray grown,
My childhood’s needs are better known.
